Adventing we will go

I went to a lovely little gift fair last night held in a beautifully restored local church hall and, I'm not going to lie, the complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival was just what I needed to help me kickstart my spending.

It makes my heart sing to see such loveliness all in the one place.  One thing that really caught my eye this year were some gorgeous advent calendars.  I especially like that they are not chocolate-based, so it's perfect for Sienna who in years past, has received calendars that we've delved into to replace the chocolate with something dairy-free - and let's face it, who likes receiving already opened presents?

There is something about European Christmas scenes that I just cannot resist.  These calendars are made from quite heavy-duty card and are just so beautifully detailed.  Better still, they can be re-used.  One is a graceful home and the other is a department store for Sienna and Renee.

Aimee received a stable and each day she gets to put a reindeer in its stall or insert other Christmas scene setters.  Such a cute idea and it's much easier for little hands to manipulate.

The girls all woke up this morning very excited to get their hands on their calendars.  I love their anticipation that builds with each window that is opened, marking the countdown to Christmas.

Since the Big Day is just around the corner, my plan is to do some advent crafts with the girls and you shall see the results of those as the month progresses.
